What Is Greensand?
Greensand is primarily glauconite, an iron-potassium silicate mineral formed in ancient seabed deposits. Gaia Green describes Greensand as a mined natural source of potassium, iron, magnesium, and manganese.
Gaia Green Greensand is listed as 0-0-0.2, meaning it contains only 0.2% soluble potash. It is best treated as a slow mineral conditioner that can contribute to long-term soil diversity—not as a fast potassium fertilizer or emergency nutrient correction.
The product is finely ground, increasing the surface area available for weathering and biological interaction. Even so, nutrient release remains gradual and depends on moisture, biology, root exudates, acidity, pH, and time.
In cannabis living soil, greensand is most useful while building new soil, recharging recycled soil, establishing outdoor beds, or preparing no-till systems where minerals can interact with a biologically active medium over multiple cycles.
